1. Great stopover suggestion, we loved it: Land here at Cross City (very fine rural airport) and call Putnam Lodge 352-440-0414. They will pick you up at FBO building and you can spend the night in a really, neat, beautiful historic hotel! Good fuel prices, plenty of tie down parking spots, and helpful FBO guy. (Only open during daytime, though). Building / bathrooms, but not lobby, are accessible off hours. Forest around the town is beautiful, too.

3 of us in Gyroplanes stopped here on our way down from Missouri to Florida. We have made it a point to stop here every year for the past 4 years because we always have a great experience. Chris and Zach were on duty and were very helpful and pleasant. They made sure that we had no problems with the SS fuel pumps and provided a courtesy car with suggestion to go to the Burnwood BBQ Smokehouse. It was wonderful and fast! In fact, they showed up soon after we did to have lunch. The FBO here is very nice with clean bathrooms, drinks, snacks and nice comfortable chairs. The grounds are very well maintained. They have 2 intersecting long runways and a large tarmac. The fuel is reasonably priced and easy to use. We will continue to stop here every year!

Over the past 53 years I have flown OVER KCTY more times than I can count, but yesterday I actually LANDED there and purchased fuel. The FBO representative was friendly and accommodating. Pumps are in good condition, with plenty of good-quality concrete for parking and maneuvering around the fuel pumps.
