Clean restrooms. Inexpensive fuel ($5.10 for 100LL on 7/2/08). Decent Internet speed on two computers.

From Chester Jurskis on 18-Apr-2008
Stopped here coming home from Sun'n'Fun to wait for some weather. It is a great place to stop and reminds me of what General Aviation is supposed to be like. Friendly staff, Good fuel prices, courtesy car, good "family owned" restaurants in town, overall excellent amenities. They were all very helpful and accommodating. Look forward to stopping here again on my next trip to Florida.

From Scott Harris on 17-Jan-2008
Truly a gem of a county airport! Excellent service and a lot of features you would normally only find at a much larger airport - full service fuel at self-serve price, a crew car, friendly staff - full pilots lounge, food available, even a shower in the (very clean) bathroom. If you are traveling through this area, KCTY is a top-notch place to stop.

From Forrest Ward on 01-Jan-2008
Nice Fellow, I was going to have to start up and reposition from my tie down to refuel, he ran over and offered to run the fuel truck over to me. The facility is clean and has Internet access to check weather, flight plans etc. I did not take advantage of the Saturday discount, but even so, $4.10 / Gal for 100LL (01/01/08) is a good price. The runways are in pretty good shape, (a little grass was growing on the numbers on R/W 31). Everything else was perfect.

From Alec Thigpen on 27-Dec-2007
I stopped at Dixie Aviation twice last month on a trip to the Keys, and not only was I given a great price for full service, I got a discount the following Saturday of .25 per gallon, even though I was there an hour after the cutoff time. I didn't even ask for the discount. $3.66 a gallon is low for self-serve, but incredible for full service. I pay well over $5.00 a gallon at my home field, so I really appreciate this facility, and it will be a stop for me on every trip to south Florida. The people are great here regardless of the gas price.

From David Horton on 22-Dec-2007
Stopped in with my IFR instructor a few times while flying through FL and GA. Bridget was outstanding! She pumped my fuel at the SS pumps. Great place, great people. That is all.

From Gerry Mosley on 02-Sep-2007
Stopped on 1st and 2nd September. On 1st September, we landed during a moderate rain shower. Don met us at the plane with umbrellas!! We were fueled promptly. This has got to be the finest FBO we have stopped at in the last 20 years. I would go many miles out of my way to stop at CTY again. You just can't find a nicer facility or nicer people. Don, We will never forget your hospitality and would invite you to stay with us if you ever come to 1R7. Thanks for everything. Gerry and Lisa

From Don Miller on 22-May-2007
My wife and I were en route from St Petersburg's Alfred Whitted to Baxley, Ga returning from a high school graduation. CTY looked like a good choice for our first stop. Lucky guess on our part! Bridget and Don truly understand the GA business and their pilot guests. Everything about the FBO is geared to provide a warm welcome and all basic needs. Thanks to them! Anna and Don Miller, Cessna 172M.

From Riley Hoggard on 25-Apr-2007
Grassroots aviation at its best! A great place to land for an hour or two days as I recently did during Sun 'n Fun week. The staff was extremely helpful and even pumped the self-serve gas for the long line of waiting aircraft. As I came in after hours both days, the Unicom frequency pass code for the restrooms and the motion sensor lights were very welcome. Great place and staff! Small town airports are truly the backbone of U.S. Aviation. Stinson N97482

From Joe Harris on 25-Mar-2007
Recently flew my family from Chattanooga TN to the Florida Keys and stop midway in Cross City. Very good experience. The folks at Dixie Aviation greeted us at the plane each time and fueled us without delay. They have two PCs for connecting to DUAT to check weather. On the trip back from the Keys, they gave me a $0.25/gal discount that they do each Saturday morning before 1pm. Great Folks!!

From Don Hansen on 21-Mar-2007
A great place to stop with nice facilities and very friendly people ... EXCEPT for the cowboy's, see SAFETY comment below:

From Don Hansen on 20-Mar-2007
EXCEPT for crop dusters that use taxiways for landing operations and almost no radio communication. BEWARE of these people who declare in response to radio warnings " uh ... I'm a crop duster", which must give them the right to land downwind while you are on final upwind on the same runway! Had to break off approach to avoid an accident.

From Jack Rickard on 16-Feb-2007
Closed and abandoned at 5:00 PM on a Friday evening. Credit card terminal didn't work. A truly desolate stop. Avoid this place if you need fuel.

From Jerry Wade on 05-Feb-2007
KCTY was our first fuel stop returning from Key West en route to St. Louis. The facilities are nice and we were greeted with a smile and very efficient service. We would certainly recommend this as a stop if you are in the area and we plan to use them again.

From George Davies on 08-Jan-2007
Stopped for fuel on the way to south Fl. Did not get her name, but lady was getting the SS pumps running a couple of minutes after we shut down. An easy in and out. Told us that if we had been an hour earlier, that gas on Sat. 8 am to 1 pm is discounted .25 cents/gal.

From David Hill Canam Aviators on 10-Dec-2006
What an awesome place to work, flew fertilizer for about 14 days out of there. Super nice people, thank you Chris and Bridget for everything you did. Hope to see ya'll again!

From Steve Greenberg on 04-Nov-2006
Landed one evening after they were closed, called the Carriage Inn Motel & they picked me up in under 10 minutes & have a discount for pilots. The next morning, Bridget @ Dixie was friendly, helpful, & no charges for overnight tie down. Good place to stop!

From Sterling Strode on 02-Nov-2006
I stopped for fuel at Dixie during a cross-country lesson from FlightSafety, and found the visit to be an extremely pleasant experience. Gary gave me a tour of the facility, some history about the field and some ice cream. The FBO is well kept and quite modern, and includes a weather room, pilot lounge and courtesy car. The fuel prices were also lower than I have seen anywhere in Florida. I'm looking forward to landing there again tomorrow!

From Jack Schupp on 16-Oct-2006
We stopped briefly on October 15, 2006 and were guided to the fuel tanks while taxiing by Gary, who could not have been nicer or more cordial. He even provided chocolate cake for our wives! We were refueled quickly, shown to a very comfortable flight planning room and provided with directions to the cleanest FBO restroom facilities I have ever seen. The refueling was quick and the price for 100LL was not a gouge for a welcome change. Gary and Dixie Aviation are a great stop for refueling if in or outbound from Cedar Key (CDK).

From Doug Snyder on 04-Oct-2006
Great Job Bridget!!! Very friendly, helpful service, nice facility and you can't beat the price! Will definitely stop in again.

From Rick Castro on 02-Oct-2006
Stopped by on the way back from Texas for fuel. Gary was very attentive with a complimentary bottle of water and a smile. Nice new FBO will definitely stop by again!

Thank you very much Bridgett! Wonderful service on my 5 hour cross to KTLH from KVRB, stop by and got fuel at KCTY. Keep up the good work.

PAY-II Cheyenne. Brought 4 pax to CTY for funeral. In the last minute logistics, Bridget did a wonderful job. Thanks! The facility is nice and the fuel prices are phenomenal. Rumor has it a restaurant will be on the field in the future. A+ Bridget!

From Julio Tunon on 21-Sep-2006
Had to spend a couple of hours waiting for Labor Day storms to pass over Florida on a trip that started earlier that day in Chattanooga, TN to Miami, FL. Nice airport, very clean, nice facilities, great service. Gary made me feel very welcome.

From Dennis Kelly on 20-Sep-2006
Gary was extremely efficient and very personable. An enjoyable experience, which I will repeat. Thanks.

From Jim Burns III on 17-Sep-2006
Stopped at Dixie Aviation as our second fuel stop on a 9-hour flight from Wisconsin. We had called the Carriage Inn (AOPA directory) from Murfreesboro, TN and the owner said that he would come out to pick us up when ever we got to KCTY. We refueled at the self-service pumps while we waited for our ride. The next morning (Sat) we arrived back at the airport to learn that each Saturday they offer a $0.25 per gallon discount from 7am until 1pm! Bridgett was nice enough to give us a rebate for the fuel we purchased early that morning and we promised to return to KCTY later that day to refuel again, which we did. Great service, great new facility, awesome people!

From Travis Buehner on 17-Sep-2006
Just flew into KCTY today and I must say it has been one of the best FBO experiences I have had. I was promptly greeted by Gary who brought me a bottle of water and filled up my plane. Gary's service was great and I enjoyed this experience at Dixie Aviation. I will be back

From Ted Lawwill on 16-Sep-2006
Have stopped several times recently on the way North or South. Always-good service and fair prices, clean place. This time the radio call was quickly and pleasantly answered. Gary greeted me enthusiastically, proud of the new accoutrements such as three new computer stations with Internet access. I look forward to stopping at Cross City again.

From Al Hartman on 14-Sep-2006
I recently returned to KCTY and stopped at Dixie Aviation. Bridgette, the line girl, warmly welcomed me. Not only is she efficient and friendly, she's also good-looking. I was offered transportation if needed and the use of a well-equipped pilots lounge. The fuel prices are right and the service is fast and professional. A must stop.

From Steve Carper on 13-Sep-2006
I had to terminate my flight here recently due to mechanical problems, bad seal in the prop. Gary was waiting for me on the ramp (JAX ATC called ahead to alert him. These ATC guys are GREAT!!). They had already alerted the mechanic and he was on the way. The service there was excellent. Very clean and accommodating. A real jewel. Be sure to ask Gary about his show dogs.

From Jerry Obrien on 12-Sep-2006
Pulled up to the pump at CTY on Saturday Sept 9 06 to receive my .25-cent discount. Bridget!! came out smiling toped my tanks sent me on my way in 15 or 20 min. Way to go Bridget. Keep up that big smile.

From Adam Valencic on 11-Sep-2006
The FBO facilities are great. Flew in and right away Bridget was out there to greet us and fill up the plane. The airport makes a great stop if you are flying around western Florida. I'll be sure to stop back again.

From Andy Chan, N5199W on 11-Sep-2006
Stopped by for fuel and a pit stop, quality of speed and service was excellent. They also sell ice cream, which made me very happy. The employees were friendly and kind, especially Bridget who went out of her way to make our stop a pleasant visit. Highly recommended!

From Dave Odom on 06-Sep-2006
Visited CTY today on Angel Flight trip. A terrific, quiet airport with exceptional service. Bridget was incredibly helpful, and quick to refuel. FBO facility is clean and modern. All in all, a very pleasant surprise to find such a great facility at an underutilized airport.

From Mike Edwards on 05-Sep-2006
Very clean user-friendly facility. Great service, in out in fifteen minutes. Bridget was great. Saturday special of 25 cents off till 1 pm was great also.

From Chester Jurskis on 08-Aug-2006
I stopped here twice in the past week. Once for a bathroom break, and hopes of cheaper gas than in Kissimmee (business and Disney trip) as well as dodging thunderstorms. They were incredibly helpful and friendly. They offered me a courtesy car and directed me to the Carriage Hotel Restaurant, which had "fun" local flavor, and great food. The Facilities were nice and so were the people. On my way back the following Saturday I discovered they have a $.25 discount on fuel Saturdays until 1pm. They are under new management, and there are no more ramp fees! A couple of fun things to note: 1st they have a super sweet Airport dog named "Piper" so say hi when you get there, and 2nd the airport is bordered on the South East Side by a maximum security prison, so it's fun to know that there is always a cop nearby if you need one. Summary: Great spot! Very friendly, clean and comfortable! Good gas prices! A+++

From John on 03-Aug-2006
Stopped by to refuel on an unplanned stop on July 31, 2006 and had a very enjoyable experience. Gary met us and wanted to make sure we knew the place was under new management with no landing fee. The place was exceptionally clean. A female passenger told me it was one of the cleanest restrooms she had seen - not just at an airport, but anywhere. They have courtesy cars available apparently. It's a shame that there aren't that many places close by the airport to spend a day, as I would go back there. Cedar Key is close but it has its own strip, but no gas so this might be a good place to refuel. Overall, a great FBO at a real nice airport.

From Curtis Baird on 25-Jul-2006
On July 23, 2006 I had to divert to KCTY due to weather. Gary, a nice enough fellow, met me. My wife along with my two boys was able to wait out the weather there for a couple of hours and then we were on our way. We did purchase some fuel, took some ice and used the microwave to heat up some food. Over all the experience was a good one. The facility was very clean and Gary was helpful. They have Internet access and satellite TV. This was my first time here. Keep up the good work! I would stop there again.

From Mark Blackman on 09-Feb-2006
I stopped at Dixie Aviation today for nothing more than an unplanned bathroom break. After only 5 minutes I was on my way out when I was informed of their fee. Regardless of their good intentions for asking for the money, it is still very surprising to be asked for a fee at an uncontrolled airport, especially in such a remote part of Florida, especially when I didn't even use their courtesy car, internet access, or any other free services. Regardless, I paid them but I am unhappy that this occurred on my way out instead of on my way in. If they want to ask for any non-standard fees they need to make more of an effort to make this known to the customer up front. They told me that I should have checked by calling them first but the reality is that the burden should be on them to give the customer a choice to go in or walk away. I feel that my future business would have taken them much closer to their financial goals than the $10.00 will. Obviously I will never go there again.

Response from Chris Chason, Dixie Aviation Services
*Attention All Pilots* Cross City Airport is under new management, with no ramp fees, a new friendly staff, and rental cars based at the FBO. We look forward to serving all your needs in the future and apologize for any inconveniences in the past.

From Keith Burkhalter on 22-Oct-2005
Dixie Aviation is not the same friendly place it used to be. It is under new management and all the old staff is gone. They now have a minimum fuel purchase or you are charged a ramp fee. They also advertise car rentals but there are none on site. The rentals come from Gainesville and you must arrange it before arrival or wait a few hours. The fuel prices also seem to be higher than normal for them. Orville is also gone. I'll go somewhere else next time.

Response from Jeremiah Linderman, Assistant manager
Okay, I have listened to the whining and complaining about as much as I care to. Yes, we are under new management. And yes, the 'old familiar faces' are gone. As it stands, those familiar faces were doing nothing to support the growth of this FBO. Rental cars? Two months ago, it was only a plan. Yes, we require an advance notice. However, come the first of the year, we are looking to base cars out of this FBO. The ramp fee? How do you expect this FBO to grow and provide a better quality service to you if we are not generating an income for the business? We are looking to upgrade our weather reporting system, and we hope to get an instrument approach for inclement weather. Plus, we have gone to great lengths to insure that we are as friendly as ever. I challenge ANY of you to FLY here with ONE valid reason that we should not be able to generate income for this business. If you can, I'll pay your ramp fee. Just ask for the assistant manager. I'll be happy to speak to you.

From Ron Towater on 28-Sep-2005
Beware $10.00 unposted ramp fee if you don't buy gas.
