This is my absolute favorite fuel stop. They always price the SS fuel at absolute rock bottom; they can't be making any money on it. Always the cheapest 100LL in the area of not the country. The SS facility is only a few years old and very nice, bathroom and small lounge with vending machines is available 24hrs. FBO has crew cars, and you can usually get a tour of the restoration shop if you ask.

I stopped and remained overnight on the way to and from AirVenture 2022 in my 1946 Ercope. Reasonable price for SS fuel. Very helpful linemen. Two crew cars (van and a sedan...2 more coming soon according to Alex Gale, Airport Manager). Friendly and helpful staff. Ann (Midwest Manager) took time to talk with me via telephone before I arrived and when I got there offered suggestions for places to eat, etc. The airport itself is pristine, very nice runways, and offers an awesome pilot lounge for resting up. Only thing missing is a shower. I will certainly stop there again anytime my travels take me that direction.

Self service is easy to get to and plenty of tiedowns in the area. Access to the pilot lounge is convenient. Stopped in for a splash and go. Easy in and easy out. Would stop again. Wish I had time to visit the warbird restoration facility. Next time.

Flew in late on Saturday 8/29/2020 and was greeted by a waiting line person. He was watching me and even knew I was 5 minutes late. Some other FBOs take down the info when you call but then act surprised when you show up asking for service. Used the crew car to go to a retirement dinner at a great restaurant called the Beef House just over the Ind / Ill line. Also was a pleasure to meet a local guy prior to departure who shared a nice conversation with. Next time I hope to be there early enough to check out the war bird under restoration.
