Stopped at KLHX on our return trip as a flight of three VFR on top of a low overcast, found a hole through the goo and KHLX's runway was a beautiful site. Late Sunday afternoon although nobody was there the facility is left open for wayward pilots making a weather diversion. A clean, warm operations hut with nice bathroom facilities sure made the best of a bad afternoon. Kudos to the airport manager for leaving that operations hut open. We got a lift from Hillsville Taxi Service (posted on the board) - great guy - available at 276-728-3333. Came in 15 minutes and took us all the way to Roanoke to a rental car facility.

Stopped in on Dec 20th. New facilities almost complete. Everyone was very helpful & fuel pump worked like a champ. This is the second time I've stopped over the past 3 years and I'm sure I'll be back.

Stopped on X-country to Elizabeth City, NC. Tim greeted me as I stopped at the fuel tanks, and did the complete refueling for me. The entire airport was neat as a pin, and Tim is rightfully proud of the recent improvements to the "air side". Great stop, and I used it again on the return trip. Just be sure to notice that the runway numbers have changed... AirNav has it right!

Good price on the self serve pump. Tim Brown, the airport manager, was very nice. Covered building with 24 hour access to restrooms and soda machine. Appeared to have hangar space if needed for overnight stop.

We stopped twice for fuel on our most recent trip to Florida and back. Great service, fast turnaround, and the best fuel prices in the region. We will be back.

Great fuel stop, cheapest avgas around. Nice pilots lounge and great hospitality.
