Stopped at SheltAir JAX for the first time on a recent business trip. Great place to stop, fuel was reasonable for full serve and a top off discount offered. My rental car was waiting and the ramp staff was extremely professional and efficient. Allie at the desk handled the rest with perfection. The weather was rough; umbrellas were ready and waiting as well. The only place to stop when visiting JAX! C-182

I flew in to JAX in my Cirrus. The people at SheltAir (especially Jessica) were great. I didn't need any fuel but that didn't matter. The service was great. No charge (except the required airport $10 landing fee) and they even sent a car to pick up my son at the main terminal. Very nice people. I highly recommend this FBO!

I had a good experience at SheltAir. Flew in a 9pm and I was grounded until morning b/c of storms. Spent the night in the pilot lounge, used their shower (free towel/amenities), used the courtesy car in the morning for breakfast. Just bought full 40 gal @ 5.38. Great people.

I own/fly a Citation jet and was very disappointed with the service here at JAX. My hertz reservation was not ready (which the desk people did a great job of fixing!). The real problem was that a fuel order placed one hour before departure was not completed upon arrival (and the ramp was empty!!). I also had to pull my own chocks/cones as the line crew chatting inside couldn't have cared less. I've seen this before at other airports - but at these prices there is simply no excuse for this kind of service.

Our charter company is used to paying reasonable handling and ramp fees and has become accustomed to reduced rates with fuel purchase. SheltAir charged a $1000 handling and a $400 ramp fee on top of fuel purchase. We were successful (after several calls from our company president to the FBO manager) in getting the handling fee reduced to $500. For this, the rampie pulled the bag cart up to the plane and got off the tractor and walked away. We had to load the bags ourselves (no big deal, we do it every day without getting $500). Our bill before fuel was approximately $1000. This is not a reasonable fee and is not competitive with other FBO's in the area. We were a first time customer and now a last time. We will be exercising our right to choose by choosing someone else in the future. Not a great way to start a relationship with a potential long-term customer.
Response from Joe Ribaudo, Marketing Coordinator, SheltAir Aviation Services The primary business of SheltAir Aviation Services - Jacksonville is to serve the needs of general and business aviation operators; we are not in the airline charter business. As such, our pricing is reflective of the impact of commercial "for hire" charter operations on our facility, staff and operations. There are other entities available to service "for profit" commercial charter operators in Jacksonville. SheltAir is committed to providing the best service possible. We would be happy to assist you in arranging commercial charter services with these other entities. Please contact me through our web site at www.sheltairaviation.com to facilitate this process.

Arrived for busy FL/GA weekend; Hertz screwed up reservation; Chris, manager, solved problem and secured healthy discount from Hertz for our trouble; staff (Jessica, Caz and David) extremely courteous; my wife loves this place.

Just a little note on landing fee's at JAX: the Airport Authority does NOT directly charge landing fee's, the FBO's charge what they deem appropriate. After all, if it were a mandatory fee, why would buying a small amount of fuel be grounds to " waive " it?????
Response from Jonathan Buff, Vice President/General Manager, SheltAir Aviation Services Dear Mr. Spink: Thank you for leaving a comment. Just to clarify what appears to be some confusion relative to airport mandated landing fees, the Jacksonville Aviation Authority DOES impose landing fees for all general aviation aircraft. The FBO's are mandated, through their lease agreement with JAA, to collect such fees on their behalf. We do not "waive" landing fees; however, we will waive our handling charge with the purchase of a requisite number of gallons based on a minimum gallon schedule. Perhaps this is where the confusion originated relative to waiver of fees. We apologize if this term was somehow interpreted to apply toward landing fees. Thank you again, and we look forward to seeing you back at SheltAir Jacksonville!

Arrived late at night. They helped with the bags, arranged for hotel and shuttle services to the hotel as well. Received excellent services. Highly recommend to anyone.

I flew our Comanche single down to JAX for the weekend, parked at Sheltair and received excellent service from everyone. The line guy's, the desk staff - everyone was great. Fuel price's were discounted due to my top-off request. The facility itself is new, and very nice. These guy's treated a lowly single the same way they treat their kerosene burning customers. I'm defintely going back.

Very nice, new facility, but with the attendant exorbitant fuel prices and/or ramp fees. Think Signature, only a little bit better. Staff here much more friendly and helpful than Sheltair ORL.

Landed 12/4/05 in a Citation 1SP. Because of pax load could not take on fuel. Sheltair charged me $242 ramp fee! Use none of their facilities. Was there less than 10 min. Sounds like Saddam Hussein told them to charge Americans. Is highway robbery! Ramp fees only started about two years ago. Will never go there again! Calling for a National boycott on ramp fees, especially theirs. Is higher than SMO or PBI!

Good service. Professional and courteous staff. Sheltair Orlando helped me get in touch with Sheltair JAX when I elected to go to Jacksonville to avoid the effects of Hurricane Wilma (good decision). Rental car arrangements switched for me without a hitch. Although hanger space was not initially available they put me in the hanger when they had a no show. Hanger rate for a BE55 was $60 or 65 per night which I thought was reasonable and I was grateful to be inside. Fuel was expensive at $5.22 but I have paid higher.
