I second these comments! Dropped in for a stop in the face of deteriorating weather. Ended up staying 2 nights. The town is enchanting and the hospitality unmatched! Not to mention a flow of airport friends stopping by even in poor weather! Just looking at the ramp -- I think Garrett could tackle anything!

First, I am based here. This is a great little airport. A shabby old FBO building with large front porch and rocking chairs, the Front Porch gang. Two courtesy cars. Half dozen restaurants within a mile, a hotel (though I strongly recommend the Wood Bridge Inn, in the old downtown, about four miles), half a dozen fast food within a mile. Essentially, the airport is in the center of the shopping area of our little town, Jasper. An amazing mechanic, Joe Aircraft, owned and operated by Garrett Cobb. He is there six and often, seven days a week, he can fix anything from a Swift to a Falcon. Often, he does passing through repairs for free. People bring their planes from all the surrounding airports for him to work on, but, if you are passing through, you are priority and he will get you on the road again. The airfield manager, Randy, goes out of his way to make our little airport a great little airport.

We flew in Saturday (7/15/17) to dodge a storm front just north of here. We were met by the "front porch gang" and were warmly welcomed to Pickens County. The mechanic helped tug us over to the fuel pumps and we got some of the lowest priced 100Ll around. Tim (manager) got us the courtesy car and good directions to BBQ. When we got back from lunch, we sat out a few storms with the porch gang. Tim offered us some good options for spending the night if we had to. We finally were able to get back into the air and homeward bound after the storms passed. This is one airport you don't want to fly past if you are in the area. Thank you to Tim and the front porch gang.

Love this airport and it's easy fueling equipment. In and out with ease.

Great little airport! Friendly folks, cheap gas and nice area. Try the Last Catch for dinner, call ahead for camping. Thanks Tim for all your hospitality! -T and ED
