Overnighted in Lake City last night. FBO service is excellent. Bob Hoffman working the line met my plane. Put me in a spot with secure tie-downs and fuel was priced lower than the general area. FBO services are excellent and meet all pilot needs. Bob recommended a local motel. Klaudia Lapham (386) 754-5944, the motel manager picked me up at the FBO and dropped me off the next morning. The Country Inn and Suites was clean, comfortable, and breakfast was included for less than $100 for everything including the ride. While pre-flighting for departure the next morning, the airport manager, Tom Sawyer, walked over to be sure all was good with my layover. It was more than good. Can't recommend KLCQ more highly for a stop in North Florida. It has no serious competition.

We arrived a week ago in a Cessna 172 on the way back from a long hours building XC in the south states. The weather kept us over night and thanks to Ron we could save a lot of money. They let us use the crew car over night and gave us directions to a lot cheaper lodging than most FBOs do (We have a special price for you at the Hilton...) I’m sure they take great care of customers with money to spend as well but if you're looking for a cheap over night stop on a long flight this is perfect, they saved us!

Great FBO. Bob & Ron went above and beyond the call of duty to help us while the weather had us pinned down. I would recommend this stop to anyone.

From Lee Smith on 25-Mar-2009
Arrived mid-day in our 206 and received the best of service from Bob. The plane was fueled during our 1.5 hr use of the Crown Vic crew car. We will be glad to stop in again as the service was commendable.

We landed at Lake City due to severe weather in Georgia and had to stay overnight. I found the person on duty named Ron to be very helpful, with a courtesy car and helpful with the motel accommodations. We were picked up by the owner of the Comfort Suites Inn and did not see the need for the courtesy car. The hotel was very gracious with a special rate for pilots and for transportation to and from our restaurant. Thank you for your hospitality.

FBO was closed at our arrival time. Though a slightly "sketchy" guy pulled up in a pickup informing us that the city "turns different at night". Not a nice welcome. Do note that we do NOT know whether this guy was affiliated with the FBO. But if not, it would be nice if strange people wouldn't be able to come onto airport property since the gate was broken. A business weekend in Lake City was made a breeze by Ron & Bob at Lake City Municipal FBO. They had obviously briefed Tower on my ETA, as I was given taxi instructions (without asking) to an open private hangar (only $25/nt) where a marshaller stood in front with raised batons. Next to him were a waiting fuel truck and my rental car. Lowest fuel prices I've seen in months topped off a very favorable first KLCQ stopover, and I will look for reasons to come back!

We stopped at LCQ on Jan 30, what a great airport and Tom, Ron and Dusty treated us great, gave us a car, told us where to go and eat, which was very important !!! Gave us every thing we needed to make our stay there very comfortable, Fuel prices are great and the people, well, they are the best!!! We will stop again.

Our EAA Chapter used the FBO office at Lake City as the starting point for a 9 aircraft flight to commemorate the 105th Anniversary of Powered Flight back on December 17th. While asking for approval from the FBO to use their office space to brief the pilots was somewhat expected, what was a TOTAL surprise was the FBO set up tables and chairs, complete with table cloths, and even purchased a bakery made cake, complete with a detailed Wright Flyer on top! This was served up with fresh hot coffee and cookies too. Wow! This was totally unexpected and all assembled crews really enjoyed it! A big thanks to the crew at Lake City Muni!

I've read several comments about friendly courteous service at this FBO. I've landed here 3 times in the last couple of months and have spent on average 1000 dollars for fuel each time. Never once have I received courteous service. My last visit I needed to park my aircraft for a week. I was not allowed to park on the near empty ramp but made to move to the east of the tower. Not even on the ramp we had to pay a parking fee. Instead of topping off the tanks when we returned, we flew to a near airport and bought 1400 bucks worth of jet A. We pass this airport often and I will now do all I can to never buy fuel in Lake City again. They have lost thousands of dollars worth the business from my company and the sad thing is, The people I've dealt with at this FBO, will not care in the least.

Stopped in here on a Saturday (9/20) to check weather before proceeding South. This was my third stop of the day and it was great. Called tower on my way in and was informed that tower was closed. When I landed a lineman was waiting and directed me to a tie down. There's a great terminal building with a computer, weather station, and even free wireless if you want to use your own laptop. Very clean facility and reasonably priced fuel. Highly recommended.

I diverted to Lake City due to weather in Tallahassee on that same weekend and had a great experience with the staff at this FBO. They made my passengers and I feel right at home while we waited for better conditions. I did, however, notice a Beech Baron leaking a significant amount fuel from one of the left inboard vents onto the ramp. I reported it to the staff there and they made every effort to stop the leak and notify the owner, to no avail. The previous comment was made on the assumption that this was a fuel theft. That was obviously not the case and the FBO at LCQ has earned my praise for providing great service and hospitality.

We will never stop here again. We arrived "too late" to get fuel despite posted hours, but as we were staying 2 nights allowed fuel up while away. About 25 gallons mysteriously "vanished" from one tank. The airport manager blamed the plane, but had not viewed the tapes. We are experienced A&P owned and flown and 3 other mechanics at other airports agreed: plane not at fault! Flyer beware: land elsewhere!

Flew the company Cheyenne into Lake City on 30 April 2008. This is a great stop and one that should be supported. The fuel prices are below average and the service is way above average. Tom and Bob were very helpful and pleasant to work with. A courtesy car was available for our passengers. This is the kind of FBO we need to support.

Late update to my previous comments. Spoke with manager about the fuel situation and he corrected it and offered an apology for the misunderstanding. Good place to do business as they listen to your comments.

Stopped here for fuel on the way to Sun 'n Fun. Expected high fuel prices and that we would have to wait until we got to Sun 'n Fun to get something to eat. As it turned out, we found the cheapest fuel of our trip and we were treated to a complimentary lunch. Great stop. Thanks Tom and Bob!

We stopped here for gas on 11-1-07 and were greeted by Woody. Shortly, we knew everything about the area including the restaurant across the street. Food was very good country cooking, good service and reasonably priced. If you need a fuel stop in north central Florida, or if you just want some fried chicken stop in Lake City. The people will make it a good experience for you.

Landed at this airport recently to refuel and continue to Kissimmee, however due to the weather we had to leave our plane at Lake City and continue our trip by rental car. I don't think I have ever been anywhere including cruise ships where I have been treated so well. The entire staff was extremely helpful and attentive. We waited about 45 minutes for the rental car and by the time we left we had been made to feel as though we were part of the Lake City Airport "Family". When we returned 5 days later, it was just the same. This is a fabulous FBO!!!!!!!!!! STOP HERE TO REFUEL AND SOME GOOD CONVERSATION!!!!!! ASK FOR JONOTHAN, HE'LL MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED!!!

From Craig Tankersley on 27-May-2007
Stopped on 5/26/07 and got some fuel, when paying on the 27th the price had jumped to $4.53 a gallon. I asked about the "Guaranteed" price of $4.36 and Bob said that there is a gray area with that and I would have to pay the new amount, even though I bought gas the day before. Not the best way to run the airport, best get fuel elsewhere or call first.

Unplanned stop to use the restroom around noon. Directed to a parking spot and fuel request brought the fuel truck to the plane promptly. Had a nice lunch at the country dinner across the street. Friendly folks and fuel price as advertised. Will plan on stopping next trip.

From Jack Rickard on 16-Feb-2007
Unbelievable. He should have worn a mask. We landed at 5:30 PM in a Twin Comanche. "Woody" met us at the door at 20 minutes until 6 and asked us what we wanted. Fuel was of course our reply. "It ain't going to happen." was his response. Why not? Because I close it up at 5:30. We pointed out that the hours were posted on the door as 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. "Well, you're not getting any fuel here today.... Unless you want to pay the $50 fee to have me come out...."" You're ALREADY out. It's twenty to six. Well, you can pay the $50 or go without fuel until 8:00 AM.... I have NEVER had such an experience of blatant highway robbery at an FBO. I never DID see a gun. I have the receipt, with the $50, and it has the time posted as 18:07. That's the time of the AMEX charge AFTER he finally got the truck out and fueled the airplane. FREINDLY? COURTEOUS? Thanks Woody.

Response from Tom Sawyer,Airport Manager, Lake City Municipal FBO
To Craig and Jack. I have been unable to track either of you down by tail number. Please contact me directly (386) 719-5766 or call Debbie Adams at the airport (386) 752-1066 to arrange for our refund of charges. Please stop in again.
