My wife and I were so happy to discover that the Airway Café at the Porterville Airport has reopened (in May of 2017) under new management by a former employee, who is now the owner. The food and service were excellent under the old management and remain excellent under the new management. It is a great place to fly in for food and aviation fuel. The hours have been extended and are now 7AM to 3PM every day except on Tuesdays, when the restaurant is closed.

Want to thank manager Jim McDonald for going out of his way, treated me above and beyond what is expected! On Monday April 3rd after facing a 30-knot headwind from KSDM had to land and fuel, pumps were down and even though it was close to quitting time Jim filled my tanks from the truck and charged pump prices then treated me to his home cooked ribs in his office

The Airway Café is open again! My wife and I had a great $150 hamburger there 19 March. They've re-opened as of the beginning of this month.

Response from Jim McDonald, Airport Manager, Porterville Airport
Notice; if you haven't already found out the hard way, Airway Café has closed. The Airport is searching for a new Restaurateur. We hope to reopen by the end of March.

Great breakfast again. Great portions and prices. I'll be back for a T-shirt, my old one is worn out.

Easy & friendly airport - used as a fuel and food stopover after crossing Sierras from Death Valley. Will sure use it again!

A hearty Thank You (!) to the folks at the Airway Café who hosted a breakfast fly-in from the F-35 Test Force at Edwards Air Force Base on Saturday, 4 April 2015. We showed up with 12 people in five airplanes and they just pushed tables together until we were all seated. The food was great and the waitress’s quite patient with us. We really enjoyed ourselves.

A nice, well-maintained airport. The Airway Cafe (closed Tuesday) is excellent. Good food, good service, nice people. WiFi is available.
