Flew in for a stop in a C172. Got the feeling if I wasn't associated with the private airpark, they really had no interest in me being there. Very unlike most stops in TN, KY, and AL.

I flew in to the airport in my Cherokee Six with three passengers and spent a wonderful weekend renting a house in the area. There were no rental cars anywhere within an hour's drive and the airport manager, Hank, offered to let us use the crew van for our entire stay, which really made the trip possible. I had pre-arranged a tour of the Big South Fork Airpark (right next door to the field) during our stay and the developer, Bill Armstrong, went above and beyond to serve us that weekend. He let us use a hangar and drove us around the development and into town for about two hours. We ended up staying an additional night in the beautiful welcome center/lodge due to weather (below minimums due to mist/fog all day). All both gentlemen received in return were about a 30-gallon fuel purchase and my sincere thank you. Buy fuel, see the airpark, have a great time. We did!
