Small crowded ramp. Line and counter help both offered extremely poor service. Ramp fees even for a quick turn were way over priced. The fees are more reflective of Signature and not Atlantic.

Very professional organization focused on the increasing number of jets using SMO. Very affordable car rental onsite or Hertz will deliver cars. Their business is booming so do not expect your light twin to be left parked in front of the door for the day.

Supermarine is now Atlantic Aviation (even though it's on the Pacific). We haven't heard how things might change otherwise.

From Richard Weiner on 25-Mar-2007
I was planning a flight to SMO today to visit family in the area. Supermarine informed me that the ramp fee is now $200 or purchase 200 gal fuel (how many piston GA planes will even hold that much?) Who needs to worry about government user fees with FBO rates like these? I'd like to support the businesses on the field, but these fees make it impossible. I'll tie down in front of administration and buy fuel at Amer Flyers in protest.

Response from Scott Wardle, Supermarine
Fees for piston aircraft are as follows: Single: 20 gallons or $10 per day Twin: 40 gallons or $20 Per day

Very disappointed. Been flying my Meridian here a lot in the past. Learned this evening that I have to buy 80 gallons or pay $80 ramp fee PER DAY. Fuel capacity is 170 gallons, can't land with only 10 gallons on board so, if I stay more than a day, it costs $80/day to park. No more SMO for me, unfortunately.

Attended a business conference in LA in mid-October. Parked my C310 at Supermarine for three nights. Service was very good, and everyone was helpful and pleasant.

Open 24 hours, excellent service, even for little piston singles like mine. Rental car guy (Midway) is right at the front desk and also provides excellent service. I got the impression that as long as you call in advance, he'll be there to meet you whenever you arrive.

I have been flying into Supermarine for several months now. Don't count on a GPU as they only have one. (The others have been broke for as long as I have been flying in there. ) They are always happy to collect your $150.00 landing fee though.

Response from Supermarine
Thanks for your input Doug.... We recently purchased two additional GPU's. This will bring the total count up to four.

I've had very good experiences with Supermarine when flying into SMO, but on my last visit, they hooked a tug up to my plane and over-turned the nose wheel resulting in damage to the tow bar bracket and wheel pant. The nose wheel is placarded with a turn limit, plus nobody mentioned the damage to me on departure. I'll continue to use them, but keep an eye on the ground handling, or ask them not to move the plane without me present.

Flew into SMO from RHV Sept 3 in a C172 and stayed 2 nights at Supermarine. Fuel price was a bit high, but parking fee ($10) was waved with 20 gallons for our single. Line crew was very attentive - even with all the jet traffic - and the folks behind the counter were equally nice and efficient. We'd arranged to have Hertz drop off a car for us, and the keys were waiting for us on arrival. I would definitely return.

I used Supermaiine when flying to SMO last weekend and again this weekend. Overall, their service is fine, in line with what was described below. The only small disappointment was that when I arrived yesterday they asked what time I would like the aircraft staged for this morning. I told them 10:00, but at the plane was not there when I arrived shortly after that time. The wait was only a few minutes, but it seems like asking for a staging time implies the plane will be ready.

I went to Supermarine on 8/9/05 and I had a very good experience. They were very busy and it did take about 3-4 minutes for the linemen to notice me and direct me to a place to park. Ground control called me and inquired why I was still near the taxiway. I was the only piston aircraft on the ramp there (out of about 12 aircraft). I had already called ahead to reserve a rental car with Midway Car Rental and the guy in charge (Koy) brought the car right up to the plane to unload. Very efficient and courteous service. Returning the rental car was seamless as well. They asked that I call one hour before departure so that my plane could be brought to the ramp from their overnight storage area. It was ready to go when we arrived, and while the fuel costs are relatively high, there were no tie-down fees. Santa Monica was supposed to have started charging landing fees on Aug. 1st 2005, but so far I have not seen a bill in the mail. Supermarine does not collect those fees for the airport.

Things seem to have improved, based on my last couple of visits. Line service was attentive. The Midway car rental rep in the FBO is great, as are the cars. Only issue was that a GPU was supposed to be at the plane prior to departure, and when I got there, no one seemed aware of it. Overall, a good experience.

Supermarine treated us efficiently and were very friendly, even though we landed on a busy Friday afternoon and were the only 172 among the corporate aircraft on their ramp. I'd phoned ahead the day before and booked a rental car -- it was on the ramp next to our plane as we parked, and the car itself turned out to be a pleasant little thing, just right for Santa Monica, unlike most airport rental cars. We bought only a small amount of fuel (it was all that would fit...), but still weren't charged any fees for the overnight parking. In short, they did a good job of making us (three badly-dressed nobodies from Oakland...) feel welcome. Recommended.

I landed a little C150 at SMO for an overnight stay in the area and was handled by Supermarine. Their service was good and I had no issues. I would not hesitate to use them again.
