As mentioned by others, this is the place to go for a Palo Duro Canyon trip. Hertz left a car at the airport for us. The FBO was especially accommodating in allowing us to thaw our airplane out in the hangar when a blizzard dropped six inches of snow on the area. Buy firewood in Canyon at the United Supermarket or Ace Hardware in case the park is out.

Had a very pleasant experience with Tradewinds. I had called a couple days prior to inquire about hotels that accept dogs and was planning an overnight stay enroute to California from Alabama. The guys at the FBO met me as I was shutting down my Piper Lance and had already called the hotel shuttle to drive out to my plane and pick me up. Had me refueled and ready to go bright and early the next morning. Customer service is A++ and it's an easy airport to get in and out of quickly. The controllers at Amarillo International do a great job getting you to the airport with pilots unfamiliar with the area and the tower at KTDW was extremely nice. The fuel is at a competitive price and once again, these guys treat you like a real person. I will definitely be back and plan Tradewinds as my overnight stop when I'm in the area.

TDW is very convenient to Palo Duro Canyon. I flew in on a Friday night, and found that Hertz had failed to leave my rental car with the FBO staff as promised. Mark was kind enough to drop me off at my hotel, and everyone was very pleasant and helpful. Thanks again I'll be back next year!

I recently did a cross country in my homebuilt from the Milwaukee area to Las Vegas to Tucson and back. Stopped overnight on both legs of the trip at Tradewinds and the service was truly outstanding. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They have a complimentary shuttle service to the Holiday Inn with an exceptionally good rate for TDW customers. My sincere thanks to the guys at TDW for their warm Texas hospitality. I'll be back. Charles Kullberg, Elkhorn, WI - RV6A N425FC

This is a great facility with good folks. Had a minor scratch during fueling from my last visit and was met by the lineman who promptly apologized and said they would take care of it. Repair was good and left me very impressed about how much they care about GA pilots. Will return again, thanks guys for the services. Bob Vint N727BV

This is a nice airport facility but the staff acts as if they hate their jobs. At a recent stop we had to ask for gas, ask who to pay and wait an unreasonable time to complete the transaction and get back in the air. I'll fly by them next time.

Friendly folks. Had a non-operational alternator. Taken care off quickly (broken crimp terminals) by Amarillo Air Service. Had a Big Texan steak with the cowboy limo. Holiday Inn has airport pick-up and a TDW rate. Recommended.

Very nice staff!! We flew in, bucking 25-40kt winds. They had us chained down before I even had my headset off! Had me fueled the next morning before I arrived, clean FBO, great service. Yeah, I paid the $6 overnight fee.... It was worth it!!!! Sometimes after a long day it's worth a buck to see a friendly face that truly knows aviation!! We'll be back!!!!!

Enjoyed my stopover at Tradewinds. Folks were very accommodating. I got a limo ride (complete with bulls horns on the hood and a cowboy behind the wheel) to the motel. Ate a steak the size of Texas at The Big Texan..Wheew! Had 25kt crosswind the following day for departure in my taildragger, I was told it's like this all the time so I cowboy'ed up and took off. You gotta love Texas! Thanks Tradewinds.

Stopped late one night. Carl took care of us; great guy. Came out next day to flight plan. No internet, "sorry". Got gas, and still charged us for $6 to tie down; "sorry". Nice people but....

Stopped in and was met at the plan with chocks. Very friendly and enjoyed the use of the courtesy car. Nice place to stop in and convenient to the rest of Amarillo.

Great Fuel Stop! Everyone was super friendly. When I asked for a quart of oil, they put the oil in my plane for me, great service. I'm sure I'll make this a regular fuel stop when I'm traveling that direction.

Great friendly airport! They put my new airplane in a hangar, called for a courtesy car from a hotel. A good layover airport!

I have flown into Tradewind one to two times per year for the last three years. Without question, this is one of the friendliest and most accomodating general aviation airports in existence. This past weekend when they received 12 or more inches of snow on Friday and Saturday was a perfect example. Before the snow stopped on Saturday, they had plowed the runways twice. They were out there again beginning at 5:00 AM Sunday until we were able to depart around noon making sure the runways and taxiways were clear. This kind of service is greatly appreciated as we noticed on our way back to Midland that several airports we passed hadn't been plowed at all.
