Based on APM's comments below, I landed TKX around 0400 on Aug 2 as indicated, the runway lights were indeed on. Landing was uneventful, and fuel pump worked great. FBO access is as promised, and a fine operation. All in all, a terrific GA airport. CC's are avail, but I didn’t use them. I wanted to get back to CA before dark.

From Ralph Matchett on 29-Jul-2009
This is a great place to stop at. Fuel is cheap, there is a decent length runway in good condition, the facility is clean and the people are friendly.

From Jeff Schlueter on 28-Jul-2009
Stopped in Kennett on the first leg of a grand triangle x-country from Atlanta to Denver to OSH and back to Atlanta. Everything was just as advertised: cheapest fuel, friendly service and a nice clean FBO.

From Mark Dymond on 26-Jul-2009
During an XC, from VNY (SoCal) to RYY (Ga.) tried to land TKX, around 0400 on Sat, 07/25/09. Got lower than 900 agl, right over the field. Saw the beacon, but couldn’t get the lights to come on. Tried 22.8 first, 3 clicks, then 5 then 7. Several times. Nothing, so I tried the other usual suspects while circling, like 22.9; 23.0;, 23.05, even 22.7. Nothing worked no how! I had to climb back up and traveled east to Benton Co Tenn. 0M4 their lights and SS pump worked, but no access to the FBO.

Response from Larry V. Jones, TKX Board member, City of Kennett (FBO)
Runway lights are now set to burn continuous from dust to dawn until the runway radio light controller is repaired. Sorry that you had to divert to another airport. We work hard to have all services available 24 hours everyday.

My plane is based near Kennett so TKX is the "practical" place for me to re-fuel. I know the people here very well and attest to what a great group they are. Jewell Aviation (next to the fuel pumps) has the ability to handle virtually every maintenance related issue. The selection of eating places, lodging, extremely low fuel prices, etc are just icing on the cake.

From Andrew Fraker on 27-Jun-2009
I visited Kennett last week and had some engine trouble after filling my tanks. It was after 5 O'clock and the gentlemen in the service shop took good care of my plane anyway and we were back in the air within an hour! Thanks Guys for the excellent service!

From Frank Sperandeo on 23-Jun-2009
I have been refueling at TKX for the past five years and consider it my own fuel stop. Selfish, am I not? Always the lowest longtime stop I know of that exists in the Midwest. Great courteous people who also volunteer to help with the fill up tasks. I use TKX always on the trips to the east and southeast from FYV. This fuel stop is the primo example that you can sell fuel and not gouge pilots. Hooray for the City of Kennett, MO!!! Miss Pearl, N3383A

From Kevin Belsole on 05-Jun-2009
Nice and clean facility. Easy access to self-service pump and great price for fuel. No attendant available at FBO, but a very friendly gentleman next door at the maintenance shop allowed my family and I to use his golf cart to drive over and get a bite to eat. Many restaurants within walking distance (McD's, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell).

From Harry Pacynski on 30-Apr-2009
I arrived after dark to find an easy access airport and ramp area. Fuel area was well lit and SS pump was easy to use. Terminal building was open to use rest room and computer, (sorry if it wasn't supposed to be open). Great cross country fuel stop. Thanks, City of Kennett, for helping to keep flying affordable!!

From Daniel R. Hill on 11-Apr-2009
Third time stopping, always the lowest price, Very clean and neat facilities. Walking distance for food. Will be back.

From Craig Woodberry on 19-Mar-2009
Awesome facility and will return!

From Kirk Groves on 04-Mar-2009
Great Airport and super fuel prices very nice FBO office these guys are top notch

From Beth Robinson on 13-Feb-2009
Really nice, well equipped, accommodating place...And the price of gas can't be beat...2.64 when we were there. And they've even marked out a path to taxi on the grass over to McDonalds where a gate gives you access.

From Kevin Kealy on 18-Jan-2009
Second time stopping at TKX - great airport. This time it was my second fuel stop going from AZ to CT. The facilities are excellent, and I overnighted at the local Days Inn. David at the airport was kind enough to leave the keys for the courtesy van so I didn't have to walk to the hotel in the -19 cold! Great fuel prices, lovely airport. I wish we had similar in my hometown! I'll definitely be back.

From Jay Baxley on 26-Oct-2008
Interesting little airport...Very clean and nice facilities. Easy to taxi to pump and quickly top off at bargain prices. Wanted to buy updated approach plate but no one around to sell it to me. Would stop again for fuel since it was easy to get in and out of the airport.

From W.P. DuBose on 10-Sep-2008
What a great little airport. Wonderful runway, wonderful facilities, and most of all, wonderful people. Flying from SC to KS recently, I stopped in both coming and going for the great fuel prices, but was charmed by the whole experience. I want to come back, stay longer, and find out more about this cool little town that is willing to make such an investment in its airport. Thanks, all!

From Andrew Damiano on 15-Aug-2008
Stopped in early August, great prices, beautiful new FBO building, easy access to pump from ramp, local pilots very friendly. Highly recommended.

From Neal Kite on 02-Jul-2008
Stopped in on June 21st and from stopping there from 2 years ago nothing major has changed. Same great fuel prices same great restaurants within walking distance from the airport. Since we had the baby I was offered a courtesy car for a quick run to the Mexican restaurant across the street. Good food and good prices. I will be back again when passing through.

From Joe Young on 29-Jun-2008
Perfect fuel stop. Self-serve fuel prices were excellent. Vanessa graciously offered the courtesy car for a quick run to one of the several fast food restaurants within 5 minutes distance. My family made the food run while I fueled the plane. We were refreshed and back in the air within 30 minutes. Thank you Vanessa and Kennett, MO....We'll be back

From Jeff P. Russell on 23-Apr-2008
Great stop. Excellent facilities and superb self-serve prices! Real friendly people in the maintenance shop to buy oil from. Make this a stop. Great place.

From A.J. Wahlquist on 13-Apr-2008
I love flying into Kennet! The new terminal area is absolutely first class and not a drag to hang around in waiting for passengers to arrive from an all day stay. Golf course is straight across from airport but not sure it's open to public. Cheap fuel, nice people, places to eat, and nice accommodations are what set this airport apart from many small town airports.

From Gary Johnson on 09-Mar-2008
What a great airport! Fuel price is very reasonable. FBO is clean enough to eat off the floor. Self-serve fuel pump was fast and easy. Walked about 5 minutes to eat at one of several fast food restaurants. Take your pick of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, McDonalds or Burger King. There is also a sit down Mexican place highly recommended by the locals as well as a Wal-Mart Superstore. Picked up my IFR clearance in the air. Could not find directions to the key box for the courtesy car. Tried the CTAF numbers but to no avail. The walk was great though. I will be back.

From Gary Shreve on 06-Mar-2008
Stopped by Kennett on the way to Illinois from Texas. One of the best places to stop I've ever had the pleasure of using. We were allowed to use the courtesy van overnight, and the fuel price was like a relic from yesteryear. Low. After our experience with Kennett, my wife and I would definitely go out of our way to stop there on our next trip up north. Excellent facilities. Thank you Wally!

From Chip Osborn on 11-Nov-2007
Best fuel prices around. Nice new terminal facility. Nice runways and taxiways. You can get in the terminal 24 hours a day.

From Alan Monshausen on 10-Nov-2007
The attendant who was there for several years is now working for the schools. A woman from the maintenace facility next door comes over part time to take care of the books and bldg. The gas is strictly self-service. If you need assistance and no one is there, I would suggest going to the maintenance office.

From Laurent Jouet on 28-Oct-2007
Still the best deal ... Great facility and we will be back

From Tom Barger on 04-Oct-2007
Stopped in for fuel on a cross-country. The new terminal building is gorgeous, and the people are as friendly as ever. Fuel prices are the BEST! I highly recommend this airport!

From Ralph O'Quinn on 12-Sep-2007
Stopped here twice on a trip from Texas to Ohio. Extremely nice people. Clean and nice facility. We were stuck in Kennet on the return trip due to weather and they let us use the van overnight. I will stop here anytime that I am in the area! Thanks Kennet!

From Ken Cashwell on 23-Aug-2007
Stopped in for fuel. Great fuel price, clean FBO up to date flight planning facilities, and a courtesy car to boot! A great tech stop! Thanks Kennett

From Shane Adair on 20-Aug-2007
One of the best Midwest stops around. Great fuel price and service. One of our favorites. The Adair’s N205AC

From Ken Andrew N377SB on 01-Aug-2007
A great stop, self-service works really well and pilot lounge is new. Prices as advertised. A very nice airport.

From Edward Figuli on 25-Jul-2007
Cheapest gas I found across the country. The self-serve pump worked as advertised and the FBO was nice and clean. Easy in and easy out.

From Robert Brooks on 22-Jun-2007
Stopped in on my way to Oklahoma for an Advance Pilot Seminar. Great facility, friendly and very well maintained. They were setting up for a BBQ cook off this coming weekend, would be a fun fly in. I would definitely stop again and may do so on my way home.

From L M Scudieri on 28-May-2007
Stopped in May 23: Quick self-turnaround, facilities clean. Great cross country stop.

From Bob Williams on 28-May-2007
Great fuel stop, low prices, clean modern facility, courtesy car, free internet/weather, restaurants and motels within walking distance. I have stopped in several times now and always had a pleasant experience.

From Doyce Graham on 26-Apr-2007
TKX is still one of our favorite stops. Assisted fuel service and price are excellent. Apparently lots of Sun-N-Fun traffic stopped in during the travel time.

From Randy Vogel on 10-Apr-2007
I stopped to fill up on my way to Southern Alabama based on their fuel price and great write-ups here on AirNav. I was definitely NOT disappointed! Their service was exceptional and the FBO was one of the cleanest I've ever seen...I'll stop here every time I come this way. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the fact they didn't have any Terminal Approach Procedures to sell (I needed one for Alabama). Luckily it was VMC all the way to my destination so I didn't need them but it would have been nice to be able to purchase one just in case. Overall though, it was a great experience!

From Kurt Gross on 08-Mar-2007
Stopped in just for fuel. Airport manager came out and pumped it. Nice place. Good fuel price.

From Chris Holliday on 15-Feb-2007
Stopped on my way to NY and everything was as advertised. Very easy SS fueling and GREAT price. They loaned me a car for lunch and there were several places just outside the entrance road. Even a Super 8 motel almost within walking distance. I will stop every time I can at this airport.

From Luther Walley on 30-Jan-2007
Fuel price as advertised, friendly helpful people, nice, clean FBO, courtesy van and McCormick's family restaurant all make this an excellent stop over.

From Geoffrey Applegate on 22-Nov-2006
This is one of the best fuel stops I have ever made. Good runways-quick in and out, and the some of the cheapest fuel prices I have seen. The FBO looks brand new-lots of nice facilities-I will be stopping here again for sure.

From Doyce Graham on 10-Nov-2006
As usual our stop at TKX was pleasant, fuel was $2.79, and Excellent assistance including finding a funnel for adding oil. Tie downs on airport property are now installed by the McDonalds restaurant. One can taxi to the restaurant by leaving 18-36 to the north using the grass area. Stops at Kennet, MO (TKX) are highly recommended.
