No transient parking is not an anomaly. I was also told that there was no room for transient aircraft after I arrived and pointed to the "top of the hill" to park myself. The ground and grass were wet and the wing tip of my aircraft ended up in the shrub line. After spending the better part of an hour digging it out, I was able to leave. This lack of transient parking should be noted on all pilot apps and in all databases that Race City is owned by the same operation that builds the Thrushes for military use and they simply seem to not care about anyone using the airport. This is a shame. Response from Patrick Lofvenholm, Race City Flight Operations In November 2018, ownership of Race City Flight Operations changed hands and has been refocused on general aviation and making sure every Cessna and Piper are treated like the Gulfstream's get treated at the big airports. Lake Norman is a fantastic location, and the Lake Norman Air Park is perfectly situated to get you easy access to Mooresville and all the area has to offer. Race City Flight Operations is also a flight school offering discovery flights, flight training and currency checks. If you are coming to the Lake Norman area for the weekend, stopping for a bite to eat at Epic Chophouse or going for a game of golf, we will accommodate your every need.
