I stopped here on August 20th and August 31st. Great fuel prices. I got permission to camp on the field by email from the manager. On the morning of the 20th, there was no one on the field and the restaurant had not yet opened. I needed to use my computer for flight planning but my battery failed. I found a maintenance shop where they let me use an electrical outlet and their restroom. On the 31st, I got in late, set up my tent, and left early the next morning without seeing a soul. K81 is a good fuel stop and apparently from the prior comments a friendly place when the staff is there.

Always a really great stop. Fuel prices are great, BBQ is great and Wayne the airport manager is great. Take the crew car into the Paola and vist the Park Square. It is about like a vist to Mayberry. Watch out for Barney, he keeps a bullet in his pocket.

Stopped here for fuel recently in my Baron. Really appreciated the low prices. Friendly folks. Will be back.

Great stop. Low fuel prices. Just what we need for GA. The courtesy car was a great asset.

Great airport. The manager Wayne is a nice guy. Make sure to call ahead if you need the courtesy car. He will reserve it for you. He also keeps the price as low as possible for avgas. He's one of the good guys.

Stopped for fuel and food on 3/25/08. I had no problems with the pump speed - I did a 30-gallon fill up in no time at all. Also, the comment questioning the accuracy of the pumps on the restaurant listing is way out of line - I pumped within a gallon of what my dipstick said I needed. This is a great stop and can save you over $2/gal versus some other airports in the KC area.

The airport manager told me by email that the restroom is available after hours through the back entrance on the west side of the building. I didn't even realize there was an entrance on that side.

Stopped here on Sunday, July 1. I noticed that after you close the fuel nozzle handle the pump volume numbers creep up about .3 to .4 gallons. However the fuel I took on agreed pretty much with my fuel flow computer. The pumps run at about 3 gallons a minute. Really slow. NO computer wx available.

I'm a regular at the airport and BBQ and can attest to the quality of both. Be aware that the building with the restaurant and restrooms is locked when the restaurant is not open. They could really use a porta-john for the many off-hours fuel customers.

Miami County airport has the absolute best fuel price for 100LL I've found in the KC area. The pump is quite slow, but the fuel price makes that annoyance moot. A comment under the restaurant page questions the accuracy of the pump, however I've never felt shorted. CTAF/Unicom (122.8) can get very congested with traffic due to the number of airports sharing the frequency. Give the BBQ joint on the field a try as well.

Great fuel stop, the cheapest fuel in the area. Facilities are simple and old, but everything you need is there. Have a restaurant in the same building. Fuel pump is 24/7. Would come back.
