This airport is like a hidden gem. I was there to buy fuel. Both times someone was right out to help me. Facilities are very nice. Both times I was the only one on the field though I know other planes were there both days.

Great airfield, great service, no crowds and the courtesy car was provided so that we could explore the town for lunch and a bit of shopping. It doesn't get any friendlier than Barnwell, both at the field and in town and the prices are right. Well worth going out of the way for.

Stopped over from Sun N Fun back to KRME NY in my RV8. The service is great!! Best I have experienced in years. Two guys came out as I was shutting down the engine. In addition the fuel guy came out and waited patiently until I was ready to take what was labeled "self serve". I got a courtesy car and had some great lunch in town. The lunch place is called M&L Book-N-Bean on Dunbarton AV in Barnwell. Kelly owns and runs the place. Great home made food and good atmosphere. Kelly makes everything fresh every day. The restaurant was spotless clean - like the airport! Will be back for sure.

Barnwell is a great stop, instrument approaches to 2 runways, good fuel prices, WX computer, courtesy cars, helpful attendants and a very nice terminal building.

I stopped at Barnwell for fuel on the way to Florida and on my return. Their hospitality is second to NONE! I called first. They have a courtesy van that we used to stay at the new local Days Inn. We arrived after hours so they put the keys in the van for us. They even gave me a few cell phone numbers to call if I had ANY problems and they said that they would come right out even though it would be after closing (dark). On the return trip I arrived during normal hours, and they pumped the fuel for me and only charged the self-service price!!! (They said that they weren't too busy). They have two Instrument approaches and a nice new terminal building too. Highly recommended!!!

Nice building, friendly folks, new pumps. Lots of ramp space. It was slow when I was there. Good fuel stop.

Stopped at Barnwell on July 23rd and then on the 28th. Great service and fuel prices as advertised. The terminal building is new and they are still moving in, they do have wireless interne. They do lock up the terminal after hours for now. I had to spend the night due to weather and was able to keep the courtesy car overnight. Thanks guys for a good fuel stop.

First time stopped here on our way to Asheville from Florida, Seems to be a great stop...The new FBO was unlocked and they are furnishing it now...The fuel pumps are new and work flawlessly...The runways are of good condition and are rather long for an "Out of the Way" airport. Liked our stop and will use this airport when we go that way...

I stopped in at Barnwell often while living in Augusta, GA. Moved since, but still stop through for the cheapest MOGAS in the region on long cross-countries from Alabama to North Carolina. Can't beat the friendly staff and the fish at the Lakeview Restaurant!

From Robert Singer on 14-Apr-2007
We used this as a fuel stop between south Florida and Pittsburgh. The manager came out and pumped the fuel from the "self-serve" pump. The new FBO is still under construction but the temporary trailer seemed adequate. The manager loaned us the crew car and she directed us to the Lake View restaurant. This place is a basic southern diner but it was quick and the fish fry kept us filled for 400 miles.

I just flew from PA to the Florida, Keys in my little Cherokee and stopped in for mogas and found this to be one of the greatest airports that I stopped at. The people there are great will do anything to help and have great fuel prices and a courtesy car that they just about beg you to use. I will stop there every time I go south.

Stopped in at Barnwell today 10-7-06 for fuel and was happy to find that now there is fuel 24-7 available to us. I will also add that all though the fuel is set up for self-service I was greeted and treated with full service. There will soon be a new GA terminal and it will have some real nice features. Oh yes I forgot to mention the great price on 100 octane. (3.50) Per gal.

Flew my Archer II in on a leg of my summer vacation. We were treated great! Friendly FBO. Awesome stop!

I stopped on Sunday evening, July 16, for the third time in the last two months. While the airport was deserted, the self-service pumps work great and the price is nice. A word of caution: The ladder wheels don't lock and the tubing is not padded. The ladder can easily hit your leading edge if you are not careful. I sincerely appreciate the good folks in Barnwell for helping to keep the gas costs in check and set a good example for other FBOs. I think many FBOs are trying to take advantage of the world oil situation and gouge pilots. They don't realize the toll this will take on general aviation. I would fly more if I had fuel at this price at my home airport. I'll stop at Barnwell anytime I'm in the area.

I visited the airport on Saturday, April 17 after speaking with the airport manager, Betty, on Friday. My experience was fantastic- low fuel prices as advertised ($3.55/gal), new fuel facility, very friendly and helpful attendant, and free use of a crew car.

From Victor Barnhart on 05-Feb-2006
Poor place to stop for gas. Took 15min. to pump only 4.6 gal-the gas; the pump is broken and they don't inform customers when you call. I needed over 40 gal; gave up and went to Statesboro. They were great. Skip Barnwell and stop at Statesboro (TBR)-nice people and good facilities.

Response from Betty Baker, Airport Manager, Barnwell County Airport
What Mr. Barnhart says couldn't be further from the truth. BNL is getting a new fuel system (tank sitting right there) which construction is scheduled to start this week.

Great place for fuel stop! Virgina Housand was a wonderful example of great Southern hospitality and was exceptionally helpful. Betty Baker, the manager, is working on getting the fuel system improved so it will be capable of self serve for anyone, any time.
