Have used Space Coast on two different occasions. One time was great - the other not so great. There is a small overnight fee however it is supposed to be waived if you buy 10 gal of avgas. With that in mind, I asked the ramp guy to put 10 gallons in the aircraft just after we arrived. When I returned the next day to take my friends flying, I noticed my fuel caps clearly unlatched on my low-wing airplane. This was very un-nerving because it had just rained. Sure enough I drained about 1/2 cup of water from the tanks. All the line guy had to do was push down the latch on the fuel cap, a 1 second process. That same day I asked the line guy to have it topped off for our 7AM departure. The next morning we were still waiting for fuel by almost 8AM because the line guy had overslept from the night before. After speaking with the FBO manager, she advised me that the line guy would receive additional training. But I did not receive any consideration or compensation for our experiences.
Response from Lisa Brown, Space Coast Aviation Mr. Will, Thank you for the feedback regarding your experience at SCA. Again, my apologies for your fueling incident. The last time I see you were here was back in July and you were not charged the tie down fee. The remedial training has occurred. Upon further research into your vist to KCOI in July, on that day I made a note in your customer record that you were to receive the special "base customer" price on fuel, even though you are not a local customer, to compensate you for your troubles and I believe we did discuss this as well. We would love to have to come back and visit us again. When you find the occasion to fly back to KCOI, I hope your experience is as good as the first one. Regards, Lisa

Best FBO on the coast. Stopped in over the weekend to fill up and use the facilities. The line guy John was unbelievable. He topped us off, showed us where the lounge was, cleaned my windshield, took my trash, let me borrow his cell phone (mine had a low battery) got my wife a bandaid, found me a newspaper, and did it all with a smile on his face. Professional and friendly. I have to tell you, a good line guy keeps me coming back every time.

GREAT service at this FBO. Recently flew in to watch STS 125 also - Both the customer service rep and the fellow on the line went above and beyond in helping us find the keys I dropped out on the ramp, even after the sun went down. (What can I say - it was a long day and once the wheels touched the ground the brain shut off) But the point remains, this airport is true G.A. Gem and if you are coming to for a launch it’s really convenient. The folks at Space Coast are happy to help and are really down to earth. Great FBO. Oh - and the prices on Avgas while we were there were the lowest we saw on the entire eastern seaboard.

"The best kept secret on Merritt Island." Flew down to watch the STS 125 launch. These folks could not have been friendlier. They waived the $15.00 landing fee when I topped the tanks for less than that in fuel. Helpful, courteous and a very sweet little airport. Good pick.

I found Space Coast Aviation to be extremely friendly and helpful. All my requests were handled professionally and promptly. Better yet, the fuel prices are much more reasonable than the previous FBO. Btw, if you listen to the ASOS and monitor the CTAF, I don't see a need for the FBO to answer----they're not controllers.
Response from Lisa Brown, Marketing Rep, Space Coast Aviation Mr. Gardner, Thank you for your kind comments. We do our utmost to take great care of all our customers and your feedback is most appreciated. Stop by and see us again. Respectfully, Lisa

Flew in on Wednesday and out early Friday on way to Sun'N'Fun. FBO Would not answer UNICOM after 6 tries, no lineman to marshall when I arrived (he missed a tip!). After a little effort and buying 23 gals. Lisa waived the second days parking fee 15$ and 15$ ramp fee. This FBO, with a little tweaking could be a premier destination. Don't like a FEE! But will gladly spend some money when not charged a fee.
Response from Lisa Brown, Marketing Rep, Space Coast Aviation Mr. Cunningham Thanks for the feedback regarding the service at SCA. As you now know, we only have one Lineman and one Customer Service Rep and if they are busy with other important customers it is rather difficult for them to be at two places at the same time and/or answer the Unicom. I have addressed the Unicom issue with my CSR's and they will be more attuned to calls. Thanks for understanding that we are very busy for such a small airport and our goal is to provide excellent customer service to everyone. I appreciate your business. Respectfully, Lisa

I learned to fly 21 years ago at Merritt Island when Irv and Alice Bubeck ran it, and my father still lives in Merritt Island so I have occasion to fly in and visit. My last trip on 9 April 2009 was a severe disappointment. This was my first and last experience with Space Coast Aviation. I will not support any FBO that requires a $15 ramp fee in order to promote fuel sales. This becomes the equivalent of a landing fee at a public trust airport and when unexpected leaves a severe distaste for the business operator. I cannot see how the TICO airport authority is allowing this and I intend to voice my concerns there. Congratulations, you have just lost my business.
Response from Lisa Brown, Marketing Rep, Space Coast Aviation Mr. Van Pelt, I was very surprised to read your comments regarding our ramp/tie down fee from someone who is familiar with small FBO's. The $15.00 is not to promote fuel sales, it is to assist with our overhead costs, i.e. Lineman, fuel trucks, insurance, free coffee, pilot's lounge, etc. I'm sorry that you find a business matter such as this distasteful. If you do find yourself in the area again, please feel free to stop by the FBO so that we can discuss this situation further in person and hopefully you'll leave with a better feeling about SCA.

Thanks for the information on this FBO. This was helpful in my decision to fly into TIX instead of COI for re-fueling on my trip to this area next week!
Response from Lisa Brown, Marketing Rep, Space Coast Aviation Mr. Stelly as the Center Manager for Space Coast Aviation, I would like to extend to you a personal invitation to visit our FBO. As with most comments, there are at least two sides to every story and I would like to show you our side. I read all the comments that are posted on AirNav and it is my best intention to correct any issues that may need my attention. I take all the feedback as ways to make this FBO and Merritt Island Airport the first place you want to fly to. I look forward to seeing you in Merritt Island should you decide to give us a try. My best to you wherever you fly.

We regularly fly our Diamond down to Merritt Island from Pennsylvania and have had great service every time. The employees are friendly, helpful and prompt. Fuel prices are usually better than we are used to in PA.

Ill just say that these people just don't have any clue on what a good FBO is like. We called in advanced and told them we would be there and we had no one to guide us in, almost dinged my left wing b/c there was a single engine airplane blocking the entrance to the ramp. Had to taxi in a no taxiing lane to avoid the single, and most of all could only get the courtesy car for an hour so we had to settle for a fast food joint up the street. Only nice thing was the inside and how it was set up but if your looking for courtesy from the staff, don't. Wow I will probably never fly into there again, even though my parents live down there.

When Atlas Air was the FBO on field I used to enjoy the short flight from KDAB down to KCOI. It was nice to be able to land and park and grab the crew van for an hour to head beachside and get lunch. I'd always buy fuel however, to support the FBO. When I found out that Space Coast took over and is now charging a $15 ramp fee, I was disappointed. However, when I was told that the crew car was only free for 30 minutes and that we'd have to pay after that I made my decision not to come back. I asked on the phone "what can I do in a crew car for only 30 min" to which I was told "well you can grab food and bring it back to the airport." That defeats the purpose of coming in the first place! I'm sure many will continue to support Space Coast, but I sure won't. Everything seems to be about making the most money these days.

Landed at Merrit Island enroute to St. Augustine for a restaurant stop. A quick look at the radar screen upon arrival revealed that we either have to leave instantaneously or stay there the rest of the day. So we took off within 15 minutes. The friendly lady at the office did not only waive the ramp fee (we couldn't hardly buy any fuel since we've used only about 6 gal since our last fuel stop), but also had a mechanic have a look at a minor oil leak which turned out to be insignificant. We'll definitely go there again.

Flew in to the airport to say hello to a friend. We self parked two small experimentals in front of the FBO (Space Coast Aviation). On the ground less than 30 minutes and both planes were charged a mandatory $15 ramp fee. This will be my last flight to Merritt Island until the FBO changes their ramp fee policy.
Response from Lisa Brown, Marketing Rep, Space Coast Aviation In the spirit of seeing you again at Merritt Island we would like to offer you a FULL refund of your $15. The 'ramp fee' is for transient aircraft and is waived for a 10 gallon fuel purchase details are posted on the website www.flyspacecoast.com. We operate a fully staffed FBO facility and try to encourage customer support with the purchase of fuel. Sorry for your disappointment and hope to see you again at Merritt Island

I flew in today to attend a 1-hour meeting in Cocoa Beach. I called prior to flying in and was told that a crew car would be available for me to use, or that they would be able to shuttle me to the meeting which was located 8 miles away. Upon my arrival, I was dismayed to find out that the crew car could only be taken for 30 minutes, and that there was no shuttle. Luckily one of the line guys volunteered to take me to the meeting, and I was able to call on another line guy to give me a ride back. I was told that there are new owners to the FBO, and that policies have changed that some might not have been aware of. The line guys saved the day though. No ramp charge for a C210, but I would have gladly paid one to have a slightly more liberal crew car policy. I was even going to rent a car, but none were available.
