Texas is famous for hospitality... In Texas, the best hospitality is WEST Texas, and in West Texas, your socks will be knocked off when you visit Fort Stockton. I called a day in advance to see if a car was available. I landed here the next day and there was an unforeseen issue with the courtesy vehicle. Cameron insisted I take his personal vehicle while he made a fix on the "airport car." I was able to check into my room, grab a meal and tend to some personal things, all while driving his rig. (No place is like Fort Stockton and this historic WW2 Army Air Corp Base is worth the stop, if you are within 300 miles away...)

JR is great... quansa hut hangars seem left open, however I tied down. Call ahead though if you need a courtesy car after hours. Hotels will not pick you up, and there is no taxi service. Cool airport. Also other than Mc Donald’s, most food closes down at 9PM. Day's is was very comfy, good service, continental breakfast that was kind of weak but got me on my way.

JR most welcoming and helpful with refueling, despite being self-service. Intended just to refuel and fly on to the west, but headwinds and turbulence made us turn back. JR again very welcoming, with advice on lodging and the loan of the courtesy car. Welcoming facility, friendly and helpful people.

We stopped at Fort Stockton, Texas after our second attempt to cross Texas; I contacted Cameron at our first attempt the night before and advised him we may not make it until very late in the evening. Cameron advised that it does not matter what time we get here he would wait (how refreshing). That night we did not make it too KFST but did the day after, called Cameron at short notice and he told me that the key is left in the Dodge Durango courtesy truck. He then said he would be there in morning to help us fuel. I whole heartily recommend this FBO to all fellow aviators, I own two FBO's in Florida and this service was excellent!! What a great experience and thank you Cameron for helping to keep General Aviation a life in our wonderful country today.

Made RON stop here on 11/1 while flying Cardinal RG N217AF from San Diego to New Iberia, LA based on comments I read here, even though latest was back in April. Very pleased to still find the same great service and helpful, friendly people! Called late the day prior leaving a message, call was returned to say courtesy car would be waiting. J.R waited for me to arrive early evening on a Saturday, helped me with the "self serve" fueling (now Air BP brand, not AvFuel), tossed me the car keys, directed me to K-Bob's when I asked where to find the best steak dinner in town, and sent me off next am with some complimentary bottled water! Such a positive experience brought me back for a second RON stop on the way home last Sat 11/16 - with the added plus of fuel price down by almost $1/gal! Thanks J.R., Kay, and Cameron! Heartily recommend this place - will be back if/when I have reason to go that way again.

Called the day before. I was going to fly to KFST to ask if a courtesy car would be available. When I landed and was cleaning up inside the plane. A truck pulled up in front of the plane Dave ask if I was the one who had called the day before and said here is your courtesy car, I was there Most of the day for the Big Bend open road race. When I got back and needed fuel he hooked it up and towed it to the fuel pumps for me and helped fuel. I will defiantly be back!!! Thank you Dave!!

Nice historic airport and city. Courtesy car, ramp is relatively clear/clean of gravel and FOD. Good pilot lounge and planning area. Fuel is just a tad more expensive than other FBOs but, this place is somewhat remote and fuel probably is trucked in from a long way. A nice town to spend the night, and some interesting museums near the old downtown area. Plenty of good hotels near the airport. Bring your 6-shooter and watch out for Matt Dillon and Festus.

I recently ferried a small plane to California from Houston. I stopped at KFST for the night and they provided me with a courtesy car and free hangar overnight. Wonderful experience.

Went into Fort Stockton to make an Angelflight relay. The airport is easy to get into with good runways and the service was outstanding. Pulled over to the pump and was met with two (2) guys, who filled the plane and gave me a $0.20 discount off of the "self-service" price. Excellent and friendly.

I stopped here going to Copperstate Fly-in and again on my return flight. Both times I was met at the pumps. On the return flight, I had a noise coming from the engine that I wanted to investigate. They helped me push the plane into a hangar and even held a light for me while I took care of the problem. Then they helped make arrangements for a room and handed me the keys to the crew car. Thanks for the help! It was greatly appreciated!

It doesn't get much better than this. I taxi to the fuel pumps and no fewer than three guys come out to pump gas for me (gives new meaning to "self serve"). Great fuel price too. They pushed me into a hangar for overnight, then dropped me off at my hotel and picked me up in the morning. Internet-connected computer available in the lounge. Many thanks to David and the gang for running a great facility.

Stopped for fuel on the way from AZ to Austin. Pulled up to the SS pump and someone was out to pump it for me. Spent the afternoon along with several others looking at the radar on their Internet. Wound up staying the night. Called a couple of hotels from the list by the PC. Stayed at the Atrium because they said they'd pick up and deliver. However, Dave from the airport took me over and the overnight clerk brought me back. Dave said that both courtesy cars were out otherwise they'd have let me take one for the night to get to the hotel (you really could walk to them). They put my plane in the hangar overnight for free. All in all, a nice stop.

Flew in to meet a client to have some paperwork signed. While the gas may be advertised as self-service, when I taxied up to the pump, the airport manager was there to pump the gas so I could do what I came here to do. This is an excellent airport with cheap fuel, and the fuel was actually less than the posted price.

Stopped for fuel, both for me and the airplane, on a ferry flight from El Salvador to Palo Alto, CA. Friendly staff, inexpensive fuel, and good courtesy car. Will stop again.

Stopped in on Jan 20. Self-serve was all they offered and the line guys were playing video games. Utilitarian at best. I think the manager was gone.

Ditto to all the good things everyone else has said about this facility and, most especially, the folks who run it with TLC to all of us who use it! Landing here is a little like "coming home" and they're always in our flight plan in our trips from Tucson to San Antonio. Looking forward to seeing you guys this January again.

Read what Marilyn Friedman wrote on 02-Aug-2006 below. It happened to me too. John and his dad appeared out of nowhere on their golf cart and fueled 6827V up for me. John's the one in the red jacket. I showed them what an Aerostar Mooney is like. They offered me free use of a huge WWII military hangar. Then they handed me the keys to their jeep Cherokee courtesy car to use overnight. You can't find nicer folks at any FBO.
