I find the last few posts very hard to believe. I've been in to Mizzou a few times over the past 6 months. This last trip I had a tire blow out on the far end of Taxi way D at 18. It was a mess because I had blocked access to the full-length taxi for 18. This was on a Sunday. The airport Fire came out to get us, Mizzou called in an AP and in 1.5 hours I was headed back out. For just being a GA schmuck they really gave us the Corp treatment. The A&P was a fantastic guy. No grumbles - he took his time and their fees were more than reasonable. They were busy to boot. They have ALWAYS been there when we pulled up with a great greeting and a helpful hand - and always quick and happy to serve. They must have a new team from last year given these posts... Stop at Mizzou. They are aces.

Upon arrival, there was no one to park me, so I just picked out a spot. After lugging my baggage into the FBO, I was not greeted in any way by the only attendant there. I managed to get his attention away from his computer screen and asked him to top me off. To this, I received a grunt as a response. I let him know that I would be there overnight, so it was no hurry, to which he plopped himself back in his chair and continued surfing the Internet. I asked what their hours were for the next day, and in a mumbled response, I was barely able to decipher their business hours. Bottom line: I did not feel at all welcome at this FBO. They obviously feel that because they have no competition on the field, that they don't need to provide the level of service (and common courtesy, for that matter) that we usually find at other FBOs. I highly recommend that if you have to land at JLN, get your fuel/other services somewhere else if possible.

I guess I should have read these postings before going to this FBO! I had a flight coming in at 10:00pm and was told that there was self serve fuel available. After trying the credit card reader several times, and with several cards, I had to fly to Springfield to be positive I could get fuel at that time. I had a long night of flying ahead and this was a bad way to start a long trip. It would have been helpful if there were a number posted for after hour’s service. My passenger had also arranged a rental car, but it was not there either. We had to call our local vendor for a ride. To be certain, I will avoid this facility in the future.

It's too bad that this facility does not have any enthusiasm or life to it! Unless you're corporate or in dire need of help will you get the kind of service posted before me. Several folks in this FBO are very smug, and won't even greet you when you walk in! Save more than a dollar/gal and buy at other locations near by if possible.

Landed here due to convective WX along the rest of our route. While no one came out to park us, we found friendly and helpful folks inside. Our aircraft was refueled and moved to a tie down promptly. Mizzou has agreement(s) with hotels in Joplin. We stayed at the Ramada at a Mizzou negotiated corporate rate that included one's choice of breakfast entree in the restaurant. A hotel shuttle picked us up and brought us back. The airport facilities are excellent, so the Joplin/Mizzou option is a good one if refueling/RON-ing in the area.

They helped me out on a situation today. Wish all FBO's could provide the good customer service that I received with these guys.

Flew into Joplin recently, and was pleased with Mizzou Aviation, and their facilities. Although I did not require any services, they loaned me one of their Scion's. Next time I am in the area I will try to be in a position to support the first class FBO.

Stopped in for fuel on trip home. Line staff very nice and helpful. Desk staff as friendly. Quick to get us a courtesy car (a fun little Scion that the kid's loved) and directions to the restaurant row. Self service is way to go for fuel. I will make JLN a stop over if headed that direction again.

Confusing sign by pump - says "Only Authorized Beyond This Point". Well, you must go beyond that point to fuel - apparently that is OK. But when I ran in to take a leak the tower called the FBO and insisted that I move plane immediately - apparently authorization to be past that sign expires when the gas cap goes back on. I wasn't even allowed to take a pee, had to go back outside and move it immediately. Very uncomforable in 95 degree heat with a full bladder. Not an issue on return trip since tower closed at 8:00P. However, credit card reader is troublesome on the self serve pump and we would have been stranded if not for a helpful maintenance man (only person left at airport!) that knew a trick to get the card reader to work.

My B36TC and I landed KJLN due to T-storms, but next Joplin trip will be planned due to the great people at Mizzou! They booked a hotel room at a great rate, transportation (courtesy car offered) and bent over backwards to find a hangar. Early am, my plane was out front, fueld, cleaned off and tarp folded neatly. Kudos to these folks, especially Janice, Shawn and CR.
