We had a great experience with this FBO! They brought our rental car out to us; even helped us unload our C182 and load the car! Reasonable rates. Great service. Friendly people! Good location. We will stop here again!

Nice and efficient service, good choice of airport to go to Boston

From Stephen Baird on 21-Dec-2007
I appreciate Len's response on my issues. I am even more impressed that he reached out to me personally to express his regrets at the situation. It really shows a commitment to customer service. Things happen, and I will be back in the Spring.

From Stephen Baird on 01-Dec-2007
I recently paid a visit to Eastern Air. After they refueled my plane, I found a large amount of water in both tanks. There was more water in the tanks than I have drained in the entire two years I have owned the aircraft. It took seven drains to get rid of the water. When I complained to the young lady at the front counter, I was graced with a dirty look and asked if I would like to speak to a line person. The line person never showed up. I see a lot of good comments here, but I must say I am not impressed. This was my second time there and I was not impressed with the attitude of the young lady at the counter on a previous visit.

Response from Len Carroll, Eastern Air Center
We certainly extend our regrets to Mr. Baird for not making his visit to our facility as pleasant as he would have liked. We received no other reports of contaminated fuel before or after this transaction. Our standard operating policy is to "pre-flight" the refuelers every day before being put in use, which includes draining all the sumps for water and taking fuel samples for visual inspection before the truck is put in service. The fuel farm is inspected daily and part of the inspection. This day, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, was one of the busiest days of the season with everybody either returning home or going back to their home base, plus additional traffic associated with the Patriots football team playing that evening close by. We are still investigating this matter in an effort to determine where the water might have come from.

This is a well run FBO and Len couldn't be more courteous or helpful. I agree with most comments that this is the place to land when going to the Boston Area. FYI taxicab fare from Boston to Norwood is a flat fee of $50.

From William Judge on 21-Oct-2007
With the commuter rail this airport has great access to Boston. I have to agree with all the rest of the positive comments.

From John Clifford on 07-Oct-2007
This is where to go when flying to Boston. Staff is prompt and efficient. Prices are reasonable - $10/night for my Beech Skipper, first night waived with a fuel purchase. If staffing permits, they will give you a lift to the commuter rail station, if not, it's a 1-mile hike. It's $5.25 for a one-way trip into Boston on the train, and if you manage to coordinate your arrival with the train schedule, not only is it MUCH cheaper than a cab, it's faster too.

Wonderful-awesome. No pings and no dings-great place. Will return over and over. Jet fuel on hand and well managed

From Brandon Schreier on 07-Sep-2007
Flew in on 9/5 on business and to visit some friends in the Boston area. Everybody was very nice, the service was good, and the rental car went smoothly. The FBO closes its doors sometime around 7:00PM, but I had planned to return around 9:00PM. The line guys hang around until 9:30PM so they were able to let me in, but be careful..If you get back after the line guys are gone, there is no way to get to the ramp.

From Alan Rosenbloom on 21-Aug-2007
Very good service here. Fuel priced as expected for a large urban area. We could only take a partial fill due to weight limitations - they got it right. We rented a car there, and came back after hours. Everything went very smoothly. In the dark, we left our Airport Guide on the wing. They located it and mailed it back. Nice people all around. This is my choice for visiting Boston. Advice: Use the 800 number on the wall in the FBO for clearance delivery after hours. We could not get flight service on the cell phone and we got an 11-part IFR clearance on climb out.

From Robert Meeker on 10-Aug-2007
I visited family in the Boston area for about a week. This FBO made me feel like I was part of their family. The team in the tower is very GA friendly and competent. They went out of their way to get flight following even with their radar out of service. Fuel was very competitively priced for the area.

From Robert Lerman on 02-Aug-2007
Flew in yesterday, very positive experience. I was dropping a passenger bound for Boston; they were very helpful and drove him to the train station. One note of caution -- go to the Terminal -- I went to a sign for "Eastern Air Center", went in to the office only to find I was in the wrong place! Landing to the east is a little spooky -- final is over the town! Overall, highly recommended.

We arrived at Norwood on Sunday June 17. We liked the fact that they let us tie down in a spot where we wouldn't be moved for four days. Line service fueled us and helped us unload our plane. The staff at the front desk arranged for a taxi to take us into Boston. It cost about $50 to take us into town. It was a lot cheaper than paying for parking at the hotel! It was a good place to land in the Boston area as everyone was very helpful.

Commend Eastern on great service. Called the day before to arrange rental car and due to after 9:00PM arrival, and their being closed, was provided instructions where to park and obtain rental car. Brand new rental (35 miles on it) sitting on ramp in secure area with paperwork and keys ready to go. Upon return next day took care of fuel request, bathroom, checking weather and payment for car and fuel in under 15-minutes. Traffic load low, picked up IFR clearance with wheels up in less than 15-minutes. Definitely an easy in and out airport in a major hub area. Will use them again when in Boston on business.

From Dennis Boykin on 05-Mar-2007
This is the place to go for single engine visits to Boston. Really nice folks, GREAT line service, and fuel is reasonable for the NE. The overnight charge for parking is still $10.00 a day with one day off if fuel is purchased. I do recommend pre-arranging ground transport.

From Jeff McDonald on 19-Dec-2006
Great FBO to start a Boston visit. Rental car right at counter. Visiting friends in Lexington but refused to use KBED as both Signature and Jet FBOs would not even respond to web inquiries about fees/pricing for a SEL. Eastern did respond with detailed info and even provided one night tie down free w/ meager Archer fuel purchase. Will be back.

From Michael S. Friedman on 20-Sep-2006
Very helpful with a late night arrival after closing. Had a rental car waiting for us in a reserved tie down. Fuel was expensive, but not outrageous compared to others in the local area. This was a convenient airport for a long weekend in Boston and I would use it again.

From Tom Malon on 15-Sep-2006
OWD offers the best access for GA to Boston without the hassle! While sometimes stressed and not organized, Eastern Air IS user friendly. Recently, their fuel prices have become very competitive. I would describe the facility as adequate, with a staff that does try and service it's customers' albeit with a little attitude at times! But hey, that's New England!

From RB Lawrence on 01-Sep-2006
Watch this place!! A year ago I flew into Eastern twice. They moved my Skylane, which I would not have minded, (in fact expected) IF they hadn't damaged the nose wheel pant. Then they denied it. Got a huge runaround. Sent photos. Was ready to start throwing chairs. Some BIG difference from PSM. The people at PSM thought they had done it when I flew into there. I told them the story, to which they were pleased to hear I was honest with them. GO to Worchester or the Cape, or Portsmouth, NH. But do yourself a favor, do not go to OWD-Eastern. In addition, they say they have a crew car, but found it NOT so.

Response from Len Carroll, Eastern Air Center
That complaint was reported after he had departed... The photos indicated that the nose wheel fairing could not have been done with any of our tow bars and was probably an old ding that had been poorly repaired and the fix appears to have left the fairing. I believe Mr. Lawrence is unfair in his remarks and almost libelous. It is our policy that if we ding something, we will make good on the repair although we have a very intensive training program to insure that dings are kept to a minimum. I would have thought that the pilot would have noted any damage as part of the preflight. Anyway, we certainly regret that we are unable to keep this gentleman happy but after a very thorough investigation, we are unable to say that the damage was done at OWD. Len at OWD-

Eastern Air gave me a nice fuel discount when I arrived on an Angel Flight, making the cost $4.31/gal. Service was prompt and courteous. Much appreciated.

From Dan Greenwald on 28-Jul-2006
Visited Eastern Air Center last week for a day trip to Boston in our King Air. Staff met the plane (at 6 AM) with our rental car engine running. Great service from nice people. I can't think of a reason to go anywhere else when flying into Boston.

From Steven C. Dickson on 21-Jun-2006
Quick efficient service. No charges for 3 hour tie down with fuel purchase. No minimum required. Clean facilities.

From Joe Fox on 21-Nov-2005
Eastern was quite busy the evening and morning that I was there, but they could not have been more courteous or attentive. They got a mechanic on the phone after hours for me, and got me into their shop with no delay in the morning for some minor work that needed to be done. I would absolutely go back to Eastern. $10/overnight fee, first night waived with fuel purchase.

From Mark Shogry on 19-Aug-2005
I believe KOWD is the most convenient southern reliever for Boston. It is a 5 minute taxi ride to Norwood station, a 30-40 minute commuter train ride to South Station and then a quick subway ride anywhere you are going. Check the T website for train schedules or you could have to wait an hour or two during the day. The airport manager gave us a ride to the station, but they may be too busy on some occasions. Fuel is reasonable for the Northeast. The facilities are nice enough and the staff is cordial. All in all a very good experience and highly recommended.
